Ryanair passengers injured in mid-air drama

Tuesday, 10 April 20123 min read

Ryanair has apologised to passengers after one of its aircraft was forced to make an emergency descent during a flight from Italy.

The aircraft, carrying 134 passengers from Bergamo to East Midlands Airport, was forced to drop from 31,000 ft following a cabin pressure alert.

The rapid descent to 10,000 ft, which is recommended procedure following such a warning, caused some passengers discomfort. Three were taken to hospital after the plane was diverted to Frankfurt in Germany, where authorities said 10 other passengers also suffered minor injuries.

Passengers were taken to East Midlands on another aircraft and the Boeing 737 was examined in Germany before being returned to service. Ryanair apologised to all passengers affected by the diversion and delay.
