Ryanair reports record month despite ATC strikes

April was another record month for Ryanair despite the month being hit by more air traffic control strikes in Belgium, France, Greece and Italy.

Passenger numbers grew 10% to 9.9 million and load factor rose 2 percentage points to 93%.

Rolling traffic to April grew 17% to 107.4 million passengers.

Meanwhile Eastern European low-cost airline Wizz Air also reported strong growth in April.

Passenger numbers jumped 15.8% to nearly 1.8 million, while load factor rose by 3 percentage points to 86.5%.

Traffic increases were boosted by a 15.4% rise in capacity.

Rolling traffic to April for Wizz Air grew 20.6% to 20 million passengers and rolling load factor climbed 1.4 percentage points to 88.2%.
