Ryanair stands firm over head office banner

Monday, 15 December 20143 min read

Ryanair is reportedly taking legal action to defend its right to hang a huge banner above its Dublin head office.

The banner, which tells passers-by that Ryanair ‘saved Europe €9.1bn in 2013, has upset the local council, which says it is ‘unacceptable’ and does not ‘currently provide any useful information’.

According to the Irish Independent, Fingal County Council is demanding the airline takes the banner down, but Ryanair is refusing.

The newspaper claims Ryanair has paid €4,500 to lodge an appeal with the Irish national planning appeals board, An Bord Pleanala, which will make a ruling by April.

Ryanair head of communications Robin Kiely told TravelMole: "While we can’t comment on pending legal issues, we can confirm that we saved Europe over €9.1bn last year."
