SAS cuts commissions
UK agents have been dealt a blow by another European carrier announcing it is cutting commissions.
SAS has reduced commissions for agents in the UK and Ireland to four percent on domestic and international flight bookings, effective from 1 January 2003. SAS previously announced that agents in Scandinavia will receive zero commission from the beginning of next year.
SAS General Manager UK and Ireland, Robin Kamark said: “The increasing pressure on profit margins within the airline industry has meant that we have had to look at all areas where we can make cost improvements and one of these areas is distribution costs. We would like to assure agents of our continued support and look forward to a positive and mutually beneficial business relationship”.
