SAS ‘outperformed rivals’ from UK & Ireland
SAS has claimed record performance for the UK and Ireland in 2006 claiming a 37% market share on routes to Scandinavia.
The carrier recorded a four per cent rise in passengers, exceeding the market growth of three per cent, with an increased passenger load factor of 72%.
Total revenue was up by a nine per cent on 2005.
UK & Ireland general manager Lars-Ove Filipson said: “SAS has brought a new level of product innovation and competition to the UK and Irish market place, through the successful introduction of our one-way fares, fully flexible tickets and our premium economy service, Economy Extra.
“We have worked hard to establish our new service from London City Airport and have achieved the highest proportion of business class ticket sales out of London City than any other London airport that we serve.”
SAS Group income before capital gains and non-recurring items amounted to £92 million last year. The airline saw an earnings increase of £117 million.
