Saudi Arabia launches Cruise Saudi initiative
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is supporting a new initiative to bring cruise tourism to the Kingdom.
Launched last week, Cruise Saudi aims to promote the country as a cruise destination and oversee port development.
Cruise Saudi is fully owned by the Public Investment Fund and is part of PIF’s 2021-2025 strategy to diversify the countries revenue away from oil.
The new company will introduce cruise itineraries to key destinations and it wants to tap the fast growing market for cruising in the Middle East before the pandemic struck.
Cruise Saudi Interim CEO Fawaz Farooqui said there is big potential to develop cruising in the country and Cruise Saudi will be the main platform for international cruise companies to negotiate entry into the Saudi market.
