Scottish B&B refuses gays a double bed
The owners of a Scottish guesthouse have been criticised after they reportedly refused to allow a homosexual couple to share a double room.
According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, the two men were refused a booking because they were “sexually deviant and their relationship was unnatural”. The guesthouse at the centre of the story is Cromasaig, in the highland destination of Kinlochlewe. The men wanted to stay at the guesthouse for a four-day walking holiday.
The owner of the guesthouse reportedly told the couple: “We do not have a problem with your sexual deviation, that is up to you. You are welcome to our twin room but we will not condone your perversion.”
The Daily Telegraph quotes the owner, Tom Forrest, as saying yesterday: “We run a respectable B&B and we have families coming to stay. And I will not have the tourist board telling me that I should welcome these people into my house to share a double room.”
A spokesman for VisitScotland reportedly told the newspaper: “We are confident this kind of attitude is not mirrored across the vast majority of Scotland.”
One of the men is quoted as saying: “I am shocked that attitudes like that still exist.”
