Second LA Hyperloop tunnel shelved after lawsuit settlement
Plans for a second Hyperloop tunnel in Los Angeles has hit the buffers.
Elon Musk’s Boring Company said it has settled a lawsuit with residents’ groups opposing the plan.
Under the terms of the settlement it will not go ahead with the high speed rail tunnel.
It said all parties ‘have amicably settled the matter.’
The plaintiffs were the Brentwood Residents Coalition, Sunset Coalition, and Wendy-Sue Rosen.
However The Boring Company has its sights on another area in LA.
"The Boring Company is no longer seeking the development of the Sepulveda test tunnel and instead seeks to construct an operational tunnel at Dodger Stadium," the company said.
Plans for the so-called ‘Dugout Loop’ have been filed with LA’s Public Works Department.
It would serve game day traffic and other stadium events with fares likely set at $1.
Meanwhile, testing at the first tunnel which runs under Hawthorne is almost complete, and is due to officially open on December 10.
