Major flight disruption is expected across Germany as airport security staff started a one-day strike.
Up to 1,000 flights could be cancelled or delayed and 11 major airports are impacted.
The Verdi union representing airport security staff is seeking wage increases.
The security staff have walked out at Frankfurt, Hamburg, Bremen, Berlin, Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Hanover, Stuttgart, Erfurt and Dresden.
All departing flights were cancelled at Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover and Stuttgart, news outlet DW reported.
Arriving flights are also subject to likely delays.
Düsseldorf airport said it has canceled around one-third of flights, as the union says the security contractor offered a ‘strike-breaking bonus’ to workers.
Largest airport hub Frankfurt has grounded all outbound flights throughout Thursday morning.
“The strike will cause major disruptions and flight cancellations throughout the day,” airport operator Fraport said.
Lufthansa is allowing passengers to rebook their flights for travel up to February 8.
It has also offered free train tickets for travel today for passengers booked on domestic flights.
The union is seeking a €2.80 hourly increase in salary.
