Seligo urges agents to check accommodation-only suppliers
Accommodation-only and transfers specialist Seligo has joined ABTA following the company’s decision last November to revert to acting as a principal.
Managing director Diane Mosson said: “Joining ABTA proves our dedication to ongoing agent support and customer confidence. We are now one of just a couple of accommodation-only companies offering our customers the assurance that is brought about through membership of ABTA”.
But Seligo voiced surprise that agents continue to deal so fervently with competitors who have retained status as ‘booking agents’.
Mosson said: “Whilst head offices claim to have issued directives to step away from booking agents, we know that a great deal of travel agents continue to book with non-principals, and indeed non-ABTA members.
“Many of our competitors stated they would accept principal status, and yet they have not kept their word and are continuing to act as agents. It’s about time travel agents checked all accommodation companies’ booking conditions and started to kick out those who are not principals.”
Seligo recently reduced prices across its entire range of accommodation.
Mosson said: “By cutting our prices we have proven that it is possible to be a principal and remain highly competitive”.
