Senior Appointment at The Hotel Windsor; New GM, Sales and Marketing
The Hotel Windsor, Melbourne, has appointed a recognised industry leader to oversee the property’s forthcoming refurbishment and re-positioning.
Amanda Thompson joins the Hotel Windsor as general manager of sales and marketing.
She has more than 17 years’ experience working in senior branding and marketing positions in Australia and Asia with global hotel brands, including Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts.
Her appointment follows the acquisition of the iconic Melbourne property by Adam Garrison and the Halim Family from the Oberoi Group in late 2005 and the appointment of a new management structure in April this year.
Recently appointed Hotel Windsor CEO and general manager David Perry, who also has a track record in developing successful hotel brands with major groups, said Ms Thompson’s appointment was a key step in beginning a sensitive upgrade of the hotel that would see it epitomise 21st century luxury while retaining its unique history and charm.
“We are in the process of short-listing architects and designers, and Amanda’s role will be guiding and managing the transformation process while ensuring we continue to offer our guests and visitors a superlative hospitality experience,” he said.
Ms Thompson said she was delighted to work with a property of the Hotel Windsor’s status.
“There are only a few independent grand hotels remaining in the world of the calibre of the Hotel Windsor,” she said. “The opportunity to be involved with the property through such an important transition is an exciting project. I’m looking forward to working with the Hotel Windsor management team to lead the property to be positioned and recognised as one of the world’s grand hotels both locally and internationally.”
