Shanghai river cruise operators fined for price fixing
Ten Shanghai river cruise operators and the Shanghai Tourism Trade Association have been hit will a fine for price fixing.
The Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation slapped a 1.74 million yuan (US$269,000) fine on them for a coordinated price fixing scheme for Huangpu River cruises.
The trade association was accused of setting prices and forcing the cruise operators to sell at the fixed prices.
Each operator was only allowed to operate one vessel with onboard catering or entertainment services.
Operators fined include Shanghai Huangpu River Cruise and Bashi Shipping.
The price fixing had been taking place since 2011, officials from the Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation said, according to news outlet Shine.
