Florida regional carrier Silver Airways is the first to open reservations for newly approved scheduled flights to Cuba.
It also has the distinction of being the only airline to serve all regional airports on the island.
All nine airports outside Havana will be operated from Fort Lauderdale, starting with Santa Clara on September 1, 2016.
Silver then debuts flights to Camaguey, Cienfuegos and Holguin in October, Santiago and Cayo Coco in November and Varadero, Cayo Largo and Manzanillo in December.
"Receiving approval to serve all Cuban destinations beyond Havana is a true testament to Silver’s already strong and developed position as the airline of choice for Florida and the Caribbean. We look forward to being the very first airline to provide service to Cuba starting this September," said CEO Sami Teittinen.
The airline is also hopeful of receiving the go-ahead to fly to the Cuban capital in due course.
"We want to commend Secretary Foxx and his team for their decision to award Silver Airways operating authority to Cuba. In addition to serving the first nine destinations in Cuba from Fort Lauderdale, we look forward to the DOT’s approval of Silver’s tenth destination – Havana," Teittinen added.
To mark the historic resumption of scheduled flights to Cuba, Silver Airways is offering a 33% discount for bookings made through June 2016.
Qualified travelers can enter promo code ‘SILVER2CUBA’ when booking online.
Schedules and fares are still subject to final Cuban regulatory approval, the airline said.
