Silverjet joins mobile website revolution
Silverjet has jumped onto the mobile website bandwagon and launched what it claims is the first full-service airline site in the UK.
Customers can book flights, check departure and arrival times, pick their seats and browse food menus using their handsets.
Silverjet research has shown that 36% of business travellers now regularly use mobile internet services for work with 47% requesting the benefits mobile technology can now offer airline passengers.
Travellers will receive all the functionality and services of the airline’s regular website. The site can be accessed by going to www.flysilverjet.com or UK users can text Silverjet to 60767 to receive a link via SMS.
Silverjet IT director George Henderson said: “This innovative service will help our customers make and manage their bookings at times to suit their increasingly hectic schedules, and enjoy the relaxed, stress-free experience of Silverjet from the minute they log-on, wherever they are.â€
Gerry Samuels, executive director at mobile solutions provider MTT, which provides the technology for the product, said: “Travellers are increasingly demanding access to airline services to manage bookings and check flight status when they are on the go, away from their PCs. There are already nearly 500 million mobile internet users worldwide.â€
