Silversea switches reservations back to UK
Silversea Cruises has launched a recruitment drive in the UK after announcing that its London office will once again handle reservations for the UK, Europe & Middle East markets from January 2012.
The cruise line said it was seeing "exceptionally strong growth potential" in European markets, making it "essential" to co-ordinate its sales, marketing and reservations within the same time zone and working day.
"Silversea has decided that moving its local reservations to London will be a better fit operationally and bring it closer to agents and guests in these markets," said a spokeswoman.
As a result of the move, Silversea is looking to hire 16 additional staff for the London office, which last handled reservations in 2003.
Reservations for the US, Canada, and South America markets will continue to be handled by Silversea's office in Fort Lauderdale in the US.
"By being able to service calls in London where our sales, marketing and administrative teams for the region are already based, it will be easier for us to react and respond more quickly to our callers' needs and queries," said Silversea's chief operating officer Kenneth W Watson
"The addition of a reservation workforce in London will also provide needed back-up support for routing reservation calls in case of severe weather or a power outage affecting our operations in Fort Lauderdale. Similarly, the Fort Lauderdale office can act as necessary back-up for London."
