Simon Calder criticised for sharing quarantine loophole on TV
Travel journalist Simon Calder has been criticised for telling Brits returning from Spain that they can avoid quarantine by going to another country.
He told a guest on This Morning with Eamonn and Ruth: "The only way to reduce two weeks of quarantine you have to serve when returning here [the UK] is to, believe it or not, leave the country again."
He said it was entirely within the rules to come home, pack a bag, then go straight to France for another holiday.
Fans of the show called him ‘irresponsible’.
Agent members of Travel Gossip also criticised the advice, with one calling it ‘a terrible and confusing message’.
Another said: "He’s obviously quoting a very confusing loophole in the law that he’s found, but it’s totally irresponsible."
