Singapore Airlines to fly upgraded A380s to London and Hong Kong

Singapore Airlines will start deploying its newly refreshed Airbus A380 aircraft on routes to London and Hong Kong.

Starting on February 16, the airline will operate the Airbus A380 three times a week as Flight SQ322 to London.

It will also fly to Hong Kong from Changi Airport four times weekly from February 18.

Singapore Air debuted the new upgraded cabins last month on its Sydney route.

The new updated A380 product includes Suites Class with a separate 76-inch-long bed as well as separate airline seats.

"For couples travelling together, the beds in the first two Suites of each aisle can be converted to form a double bed. When not in use, the bed can be stowed completely, creating even more personal space within each Suite," a recent release said announcing the new upgrades.

It also features a 32-inch full HD monitor.

Singapore Air says it is still fully committed to the superjumbo which accommodates a total of 471 passengers, even though its production days may be coming to an end.

Plane maker Airbus said it will halt production of the A380 superjumbo if it cannot strike a deal with Emirates for a regular supply of the planes.

It says Emirates is the only airline able to commit to an order for a minimum six A380s a year over the course of a decade to make continued production financially viable.

Talks between Airbus and Emirates over a new order for 36 superjumbos recently broke down.
