Singapore casinos to reopen this week

Saturday, 29 Jun, 2020 0

Singapore has announced the gradually reopening of tourism businesses with casinos allowed to start welcoming punters from July 1.

The casinos at Marine Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa can reopen at 25% capacity initially.

Other major Singapore attractions will also have a similar capacity cap.

"As a further precautionary measure, most attractions will be restricted to no more than 25 per cent of their operating capacity at any one time, for a start. Access to the casinos will be limited to existing casino members and annual levy holders only," Singapore Tourism Board said.

Attractions given the green light include Madame Tussauds, Universal Studios Singapore and Singapore Zoo and River Safari.

"With tourism reopening in a safe and gradual manner, STB’s key priority will be to ensure that tourism businesses can provide a safe and enjoyable experience for their guests and visitors," said STB CEO Keith Tan.

Local residents are encouraged to visit but there is no word yet on when international borders will open for scheduled flights.

Singapore’s Changi Airport is now accepting transit passenger traffic only on selected airlines.
