Singapore resort offers check-in on wheels

Thursday, 15 March 20123 min read

Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands has begun checking guests into its hotel as they ride on free coach services from Changi airport.

The 2,500 rooms and suites hotel made the move to alleviate long queues at check-in counters.

There have been complaints from guests about long waits – up to 30 minutes – to complete registration.

Now, on the coach from the airport, Marina Bay Sands guest service staff register the guest’s details via handheld tablets. The data is updated in real-time into the hotel guest system.

Upon arrival at the Singapore resort, the checked-in guests are able to proceed directly to their hotel room.

“Particularly for MICE groups and business travellers, we recognise that time is a valued commodity,” said Marina Bay Sands COO, Benny Zin.
