There was a shock for a passenger newly arrived from a flight at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, when a snake hitched a ride on the baggage trolley she was pushing through the arrivals hall.
How the slippery reptile, described by airport authorities as ‘a small baby snake’ got there is still a mystery and is being investigated.
An Airports of Thailand statement said: "After being alerted, security officers captured the snake right away and no passengers were injured."
Officials assured passengers ‘clear and strict measures have been imposed to prevent all poisonous animals from slipping into the airport’s buildings.’
The airport believes it probably slipped into the airport from outside rather than brought in by another passenger or via air cargo.
The exact species of the snake is unknown but local snake expert Thanaphong Tawan said it appeared to be a non-poisonous Malayan Bridle snake based on photos release to the media.
Meanwhile a Chinese tourist in Phuket has received compensation after being bitten by a python during a snake show on the resort island.
