Solmar Villa Holidays is venturing into long-haul travel for the first time with Florida holiday packages.

The expansion makes it the only UK independent villa operator to organise villa, flight, car-hire and attraction ticket packages in-house to the US.

Solmar CEO Julie Blake said: “The move into long-haul destinations is part of a wider investment which will help the business strengthen.”

“Customers can come to us and we will create a bespoke package that fits their needs – all with the security of ATOL and ABTA bonding.”

“We know from customer research that our customers want packages, they want ease of booking and they want to book everything in one place.”

Initially Solmar will offer 214 different Florida villas and this will rise to over 300 by next year.

More than 150 of these will be in theme-park capital Orlando, with a further 62 on the Gulf Coast.

These are in resorts like Anna Maria Island, Charlotte Harbour, Manasota Beach, Englewood and Venice.

Villas range in size from three-bedroom family homes to 10-bedroom villas perfect for large groups.

Some of the villas have themed character rooms for Disney and Harry Potter fans.

Many are situated on residential complexes such as Champions Gate, Highlands Reserve, Storey Lake, Windsor Island and Solara Resort, with access to clubhouses with swimming pools, waterparks and restaurants.

There is also a selection of individual one-off villas in the Disney and Kissimmee area.

Solmar villas has a total of 1,200 villas on offer for 2024.

The portfolio spans Greece, Turkey, mainland Spain, the Canary and Balearic Islands, Portugal and Cyprus.

It is looking to grow this to 1,500 over the next two years.

It also has plans to increase staffing both in the UK and in resorts beyond the current 100 employees.
