Three months after reopening, Solomon Islands tourism recovery is meeting early expectations.

It welcomed 2481 international visitors in Q3 2022.

Australians made up the bulk of the numbers with the 1,038 or 41.8% of the total.

Acting CEO, Dagnal Dereveke said: “This is a fantastic outcome for the Solomon Islands tourism sector.”

Arrivals from the US, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji are still slow, but showed month on month improvement.

Prior to the pandemic, the Solomon Islands welcomed 29,000 international visitors annually.

“Our primary focus is to regain those Australian numbers as quickly as possible,”Dereveke said.

“We know we have a long way to go before we regain our pre-Covid numbers.
