South West agency changes hands

Thursday, 5 May 20163 min read

Longstanding Thornton’s Travel employees Sarah Kelley and Lee Morse have acquired a majority stake in the independent agency and will become directors.

The move follows Carol Wootton’s decision to retire from the business.

Wootton was married to former managing director Patrick Murphy, who was appointed in 1979 after joining the company in 1967.

He sadly passed away in 2011, leaving the company to his wife.

The agency, which was established 75 years ago, has shops in Bristol and Chew Valley with 22 staff

"I believe there are fantastic opportunities ahead in Travel and Thornton’s is ideally placed to grow and explore this,’ said Kelley.

"With our well-known brand, specialist staff, complete travel solution and the confidence and trust of those whom we deal with, we are ideally placed to develop the business further"
