Southwest Airlines announces Cuba flight launch

Southwest Airlines has confirmed the start date for scheduled Florida flights to Cuba. 
 
Service from Fort Lauderdale to Varadero, begin Sunday, November 13, 2016, followed by Havana flights from both Fort Lauderdale and Tampa from December 12, 2016.
 
Southwest Customers can book their tickets now to travel to Cuba with our low fares and no hidden fees, bags fly free, and the best employees in the industry," said CEO Gary Kelly.
 
 "Cuba will be the ninth country on our route map and Havana will mark Southwest’s 100th city, a significant and proud milestone."
 
Southwest is touting a special fare of $59 one-way to celebrate the historic flights, bookable through November 20, 2016 with a 14-day advance purchase.
 
 
The fare is valid for travel through April 24, 2017.
 
"We’re continuing to invest in the Sunshine State with relevant service in all eight of our Florida airports to connect Southwest customers," said Steve Goldberg, Southwest Airlines’ VP of ground operations.
