Southwest Airlines is dropping several nonstop services from Akron-Canton Airport this fall.
In November flights to New York LaGuardia, Boston Logan, Washington Reagan National and Denver will end.
However the carrier will add a new route to Las Vegas, scheduled to take off from November 15.
Southwest still remains Akron-Canton’s largest commercial airline with non-stop flights to Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, and seasonal service to Fort Myers, Florida.
While there is disappointment at losing flights, airport officials are buoyed at expansion by Akron-Canton’s newest carrier Allegiant Airlines.
Allegiant plans to add three destinations at the airport, which will be announced next month, said Kristie VanAuken, the airport’s chief marketing and communications officer.
