Special introductory fare on Ozjet
A special introductory offer will allow air travellers to fly business class between Australia’s two biggest cities for just $200 when OzJet begins operations next week.
OzJet, an all-business-class airline, is to start flying between Sydney and Melbourne on Tuesday, November 29, and is offering the special $200 all-inclusive, one-way business-class fare for travel on or before Sunday, December 4.
OzJet chief executive Hans van Pelt said the $200 introductory fare would give Sydney-Melbourne travellers the chance to try business class at a price they never could have expected.
The fare, which includes all taxes and charges, is on sale from 10am today.
OzJet’s standard fare between the two cities will be $325 and that, unlike the special introductory fare, has full flexibility.
The special $200 introductory fare, and all OzJet flights, can be booked through:
- Travel agents
- The OzJet Customer Contact Centre on telephone 1300 737 000
- Website ozjet.com.au
All OzJet travellers in the first three months will have the chance to win rides in Minardi Formula One 2-Seater cars owned by OzJet chairman Paul Stoddart. (One customer a day will win a ride for the first month, then one a week for the following two months).
Mr van Pelt said OzJet’s website had seen enormous interest since the airline was granted its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) on November 11 and travel industry and corporate business managers and guests had been greatly impressed by OzJet’s product on promotional flights this week.
“We now want the traveller to see for him or herself our unique product offering – business class at an affordable, economy price,” Mr van Pelt said.
“We are not intending to start a ‘price war’ in the Australian aviation industry – we have always said there would be no winners from that – but we want to give travellers the best chance to trial an exciting new domestic flight option in the market.
“It’s an ‘ace’ we’ve had up our sleeve and one that we believe represents the best value for money, not only for passengers but for OzJet in introducing its product to travellers on the busiest route in the country – and indeed one of the busiest in the world.”
Its economy fares – and particularly the $200 introductory offer – will meet the best-fare-of-the-day requirements of many corporate and government travellers, while allowing them to fly business class with a service level they could not otherwise expect.
Should be interesting to watch the response from the competition. No one ever “intends” to start a price war.
