Budget carrier Spirit Airlines is launching daily nonstop service to the island of St. Croix this spring.
It will upgrade the current four flights a week to daily service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on April 22.
The expansion has been welcomed by US Virgin Islands commissioner of tourism, Joseph Boschulte, and will complement the new destination marketing message for St Croix.
"We look forward to welcoming many more Spirit passengers to The Big Island."
The St Croix schedule upgrade is just part of a major expansion for Spirit from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando to the Caribbean and Latin America., as well as destinations across the US.
Routes are being upgraded including more flights to Guatemala City and San Salvador starting from April 1 through July.
Spirit says it has overtaken JetBlue as the airline offering the most seats out of FLL to the region with nonstop service to 28 destinations.
"Florida is very important to Spirit Airlines, and we are going to keep growing in the state we call home," said John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning for Spirit, in a statement.
Spirit is the only major airline headquartered in the Sunshine State.
