Spirit of Tasmania III Sale
TT-Line Company Pty Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding agreement for the sale of Spirit of Tasmania III, Chairman Denis Rogers announced today.
Mr Rogers said a confidentiality clause prevented TT-Line from revealing the name of the purchaser and the purchase price.
“We can announce that Spirit of Tasmania III will be operating in Europe,” he said.
“We can also announce that the purchase price negotiated by our broker was sufficient to cover the costs associated with purchasing and refitting the vessel, as well as delivery costs from Europe.”
Mr Rogers said the Tasmanian Government had been consulted and had given its authority for the sale to proceed.
“This is an excellent result achieved in a relatively short time frame,” he said.
“But we were confident from the outset that Spirit of Tasmania III would attract strong interest from European buyers as the ship is one of the best of its kind in the world.”
Spirit of Tasmania III began service between Sydney and Devonport in January 2004 and will conduct its last sailing from Sydney on 27 August 2006.
