A power outage which briefly grounded a flight at Buffalo Niagara International Airport on Friday has been blamed on a mischievous squirrel.
The rodent managed to find its way into a substation in Cheektowaga, climbing on a power line and blacking out part of the airport terminal and traffic signals in the area, causing chaos on the roads during rush hour.
The outage affected gates 15-26 at the airport, according to Buffalo News, which also said the squirrel was unfortunately electrocuted.
Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority spokesman Doug Hartmayer said in an email one flight was slightly delayed.
It also affected about two dozen homes in the area which remained without power for about two hours.
