Sri Lanka, Bangladesh plan to join forces to develop cruise tourism
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are discussing a possible cruise ship link to boost regional tourism in South Asia. A memorandum of understanding between the two countries has been drafted and the Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) has been in talks with local stakeholders.
The MoU includes developing a local cruise line. Bangladeshi tour operator Journey Plus, which organised the first ever voyage by an international cruise liner in Bangladesh in 2017, says Bangladesh ‘faced many difficulties to include Bangladesh on the world’s cruise map.’
