Star Clippers claims 5% passenger rise
Star Clippers saw passenger numbers rise by five per cent last year and is predicting similar strong sales in 2008.
The company runs three sailing ships, Royal Clipper, Star Clipper and Star Flyer, offering ‘mega yacht’ cruising calling at smaller ports untouched by larger cruise vessels.
Actual passenger figures for last year and projections for 2008 were not given.
But the company said a new route to Tahiti and other Pacific islands in August and November is already half sold. There is availability on a western Mediterranean trip in May and a Far East cruise around Thailand and Malaysia in autumn.
UK general manager Alison Repoulios said: “We’re thrilled with the figures for 2007. We do have some pockets of availability for 2008, but people should book as soon as possible as they also look set to sell quickly.”
Prices start at £880 per person, per week based on two sharing, including meals and port taxes (flights excluded).
