Star Cruises to kick start return of Malaysia cruising
Malaysia’s Star Cruises has gained approval to become the first cruise line to resume domestic sailing in Malaysia.
It will set sail on 22 December aboard the Star Pisces.
It will sail two-night Langkawi Escape and one-night Straits of Malacca cruises departing from Penang.
"Just like many parts of the world that are experiencing pandemic fatigue, residents in Malaysia also deserve a well-earned break. We look forward to welcoming travellers from Malaysia on Star Pisces and to provide them with a safe and ultimately a memorable cruise holiday," said Kent Zhu, president of parent Genting Cruise Lines.
Capacity will be reduced to 50% and all passengers must be fully vaccinated.
"We hope to call on to more Malaysian destinations and to expand our itineraries with the inclusion of regional destinations like Phuket in the near future," Zhu added.
Bookings will open soon for Malaysian residents.
