Starring role for Australia tourism at Oscars
Tourism Australia is co-starring with Virgin Australia in a bid to attract more arrivals from the US with a joint marketing campaign during the Oscars.
A $4 million advertising blitz begins this week until March 24, using Tourism Australia’s ‘There’s Nothing Like Australia’ tagline next to Virgin Australia’s slogan, ‘There’s No Better Way to Get There’.
The tie-up is part of a three year $20 million marketing deal between the two organizations.
TV and digital exposure will include on air slots during the Oscars pre-show and the Oscars coverage on Good Morning America, along with sponsored content on Huffington Post and the Los Angeles Times websites.
"The journey is such an important part of the overall experience and we are really pleased to be partnering with an airline of the quality of Virgin Australia, whose commitment to world-class customer service is so high," said Tourism Australia managing director John O’Sullivan.
The US is Australia’s fourth biggest market with over 500,000 arrivals recorded during the year ending September 2014, spending a combined $2.7 billion.
