Streaker causes shutdown of South Carolina airport

A small airport in South Carolina is up and running again after a brief ground stop due to a near naked trespasser.

Operations were grounded at the Florence regional Airport Sunday afternoon after a woman streaked across a runway.

Incoming flights were turned around after law enforcement said it wasn’t safe to land.

Major Mike Nunn of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said police received reports of ‘an indecent exposure incident’ on airport property.

The woman, wearing just underwear, ran across a runway and into a wooded area that backs on to the airport.

She was later found and detained by police.

Nunn said no charges are likely to be filed but the woman was taken to a facility for a mental evaluation.

The airport was shut down for about two hours causing the cancellation of two American Airlines flights.
