Study shows economic value of trade fairs
A new study has highlighted the spending power of trade shows in the US, which it says contributes almost $70 billion to the economy.
The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) released findings showing the economic benefits of trade shows and exhibitions.
It said attendees at B2B events spend up to $44.8 billion with exhibitors spending another $24.5 billion every year.
The research produced two reports – Attendee Direct Spending Estimate and Exhibitor Direct Spending Estimate – and determined that a well-run event has a positive impact for the economy, regardless of its size.
CEIR CEO Brian Casey said the reports show that "direct spending fuels business for exhibition organizers and suppliers as well as the travel and tourism industries. "
CEIR also believes the study provides invaluable data for convention centers and host cities to compare the likely economic impact of trade shows.
