Summer vacationers spending more

Saturday, 15 Jun, 2004 0

Travel agents say summer vacationers are spending more than last winter, according to the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) Fodor’s Summer Hot Spots Survey.

Travelers are also returning to popular US destinations such as Orlando, Las Vegas and New York City, the survey found.

A large majority, or 63.9% of surveyed agents found spending is up.

Orlando remained the most popular summer destination for the third year in a row, with 2.5% of responses. Las Vegas was second, followed by New York City, San Francisco and Honolulu.

As a state, Florida beat out all others for the 2004 summer season, accounting for 29.2% of responses. Nevada was second.
