Suspect arrested after woman dies on Alaska cruise
A Princess Cruises passenger died in what has been described as a ‘domestic dispute’ onboard a ship in Alaska.
A suspect has been arrested and the FBI is investigating following the death of the 39-year-old woman on the Emerald Princess on Wednesday. She is understood to be from Utah in the US.
The cruise line confirmed the incident, which caused the ship to divert to Juneau.
"Since the incident, our fleet security team has been coordinating with the FBI and other local authorities," the line said in a statement.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those impacted by this tragic event."
The ship’s passengers were forced to stay on board the ship for several hours while investigations continued, but were eventually allowed ashore in the late afternoon on Wednesday.
The Emerald Princess, carrying 3,400 passengers and 1,100 crew members, is on a seven-day round-trip cruise to Alaska from Seattle.
