Alaska Airlines said a mysterious white powder which sparked an in-flight hazmat alert has been identified.
The airline says it was nontoxic de-icer that fell through air vents during a flight and sickened two flight attendants.
That sparked a hazardous materials team to attend as the plane landed in San Jose, California last week.
One flight attendant was taken to hospital but was released the following day.
Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Ann Zaninovich said no passengers reported any illness or discomfort and that the airline only uses nontoxic de-icer.
The plane was removed from service and ‘will be thoroughly cleaned’ before resuming operations, Alaska Air said.
