Swiss switches London-Basel flights
Swiss International Air Lines is to replace a Basel service from Heathrow with flights from London City Airport.
The carrier will run three flights a day from the docklands airport to the Swiss business city from 30 August.
Swiss will continue to fly three times a day from Heathrow to Basel until the end of October when the route is to be operated by British Airways.
The change follows last week’s announcement that Swiss will no longer be joining the Oneworld alliance with British Airways, discontinuing codeshare arrangements except on the Heathrow-Geneva route.
Swiss has been flying from London City Airport in its previous guise as Swissair since 1992.
From 30 August Swiss will run four flights a day to Zurich and three to Basel from the airport. These will be in addition to seven flights a day Heathrow-Zurich, 10 a day Heathrow-Geneva, three Bimingham-Zurich, two Birmingham-Basel and two a day from Manchester to both Zurich and Basel.
