Tahiti Sounds Nice’ When You’re Under Sail
More than 3300 square metres of sail will replace the drone of engines when the majestic clipper, Star Flyer, takes 170 sun-seekers on a romantic cruise through the alluring Tahitian islands this August.
Specialist cruise agency, Cruise Express, has chartered the majestic 110m-long ‘mega yacht’ – one of the world’s largest sailing ships – for an idyllic seven-night voyage to the sun-kissed Tahitian islands of Bora Bora – branded the world’s most beautiful island – Moorea, Tahaa, Huahine and Raiatea.
Cruise Express has released a new 10-day fly, stay and sail package departing Australia on August 8, 2008, that includes three nights pre-cruise in a first class Papeete hotel, a Tahiti tour, the services of a Cruise Express escort, all onboard meals and farewell and welcome aboard cocktail parties.
The deal, including direct seven-hour Business Class flights return from Sydney with Air Tahiti Nui is available from Aud$6980 per person twin share. The package in economy class is priced from Aud$4990 pp twin share.
Onboard Star Flyer, passengers can climb one of the four 69m-high masts, help hoist some of the 21 sails, ride the waves from the bowsprit, sun-bake on boom nets suspended off the prow and join the captain on the ‘open-door’ bridge as the true clipper slices through the turquoise waters of Tahiti.
An air of informality free of rigid schedules allows passengers to enjoy the casual elegance of the tall ship while lots of polished brass, gleaming mahogany and teak deck rekindle the era of great sailing ships. Star Flyer boasts a dining room, bar with ‘Belle Epoque’ fireplace and two pools while entertainment features a Tahitian band and fun crab races.
Each day, exotic islands will emerge on the horizon, beckoning passengers to their crystal-clear lagoons, palm-lined beaches and jungle-clad peaks.
“This special voyage will be a live-it-up celebration of fun, friends and good times – a real indulgence aboard one of the world’s most beautiful ships in one of the planet’s most beautiful destinations – Tahiti,” said Cruise Express Director Hardy Schneider.
