Take a break – have 54,000 KitKats
A British couple has reportedly won three luxury holidays and other goods worth £12,000 after they bought 54,000 KitKat chocolate bars in less than two months.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Pat and Carol McGovern bought 6,000 99p multi-packs in order to take advantage of an online auction being run by the manufacturer, Nestle.
The auction operated with players using “KitKash”, fake money earned by buying bars and using a code on the wrapper.
The McGovern’s reportedly worked out that, if they bought enough of the bars, they would have less competition in the auction.
The Mail reports that the couple are now planning for a trip to Australia, worth £5,000, as well as trips to Los Angeles and Disneyland Paris. The Australia trip cost them £1,700, with the Los Angeles holiday setting them back the equivalent of just £220.
Mr McGovern is quoted as saying: “We must have eaten half of them ourselves. Our waistlines have certainly expanded but we are absolutely over the moon with all our prizes – it was well worth shelling out the money.”
