The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is rolling out a new gender specific campaign aimed at luring more female travellers to the Land of Smiles.
August 2016 has been designated the Thailand ‘month for women travellers’ said TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn.
"Marking Queen Sirikit’s 84th birthday, we want to encourage the growth of the global and domestic female traveller segment in conjunction with our strategy to promote Thailand to be a Quality Leisure Destination," he said.
"Increasingly women are coming to Thailand in groups or as solo travellers and expect to find activities and attractions geared to their needs. So, this campaign will broaden their recognition on how Thailand can cater for a great experience to female travellers like nowhere else."
TAT research shows beach life, spa treatments and food are among the main attractions and unsurprisingly personal safety is a major consideration when planning trips.
"In order to promote this initiative and inspire female travellers to come to Thailand, TAT has come up with five different promotional concepts: Beautiful Look, Beautiful Shape, Beautiful Mind, Beautiful Retreat, and Beautiful Experience, which are all designed to meet the varied needs of women travellers and to boost Thai tourism products and services that are geared towards female travellers," said Srisuda Wanapinyosak, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing, Asia and South Pacific.
In cooperation with Thai tourism partners events planned for the month include the ‘Lady Golf Challenge,’ shopping and product launches for women and services such as female only immigration lines and special airfares.
