TBI unmoved by Abramovich rumours

Thursday, 7 October 20043 min read

Travel and tourism shares suffered yesterday as London’s main equity indices dropped back slightly.

The FTSE 100 index lost just 0.8 points to end the day at 4706.3, while the FTSE 250 fell 21.1 points to close at 6370.5. The biggest news of the day comes from the airport operator TBI which, according to The Guardian, is subject to takeover rumours.

The newspaper states that the takeover talk concerns a certain Roman Abramovich, the Russian billionaire and owner of Chelsea Football Club, who regularly flies into Luton airport in his private jet.

Despite The Guardian saying the rumours having “something of the Victor Kiam” about them, the share price remained unmoved at 67p after falling back in early trading.
