A range of travel suppliers have been signed up to advertise on Teletext’s 24-hour digital TV channel. First Choice, Carnival – including P&O Cruises – Medhotels, Freedom Direct and Hays Travel are among the companies involved in Teletext Holidays TV, which was launched on the Sky network this week. Programme content includes destination guides, resort and accommodation features, holiday news, weather reports, consumer reviews and competitions. Teletext claims travel companies will be offered a programme format providing distinct branding and direct telephone response slots at an average cost of £50 per minute. The new medium links to the company’s existing digital text services with a search facility for details and prices on all holidays. The launch is being backed by a £500,000 marketing campaign, including press advertising from April. Report by Phil Davies
