Tender left hanging from Costa Mediterranea
Costa Cruises has been forced to alter the itinerary of the Costa Mediterranea after a tender fell from the side of the ship while it was anchored in Montenegro.
The tender, a small boat used to ferry passengers to shore, was left hanging from one cable, according to an Italian newspaper.
The incident happened as the tender was being lowered into the water to carry passengers from the ship to the fjord of Kotor in Montenegro.
No-one was onboard the tender at the time and there are no reports of any injuries.
However, Costa said that as a result of the incident the ship was forced to remain in Kotor today for repairs and a call at Argostoli in Greece has been cancelled.
From Kotor, the ship will head straight to Corfu tomorrow.
The cruise line said all guests over 18 would receive €100 onboard credit ‘as a gesture of goodwill’ and longer shore excursions in Kotor would be offered at a 30% discount.
Those who booked excursions for Argostoli are being refunded.
