Terror alert update: BA extends cancellations
British Airways has cancelled all shorthaul inbound and outbound flights to and from London
Heathrow for the whole of today.
It is also cancelling some domestic and shorthaul services in and out of London Gatwick during the remainder of the day.
The airline said it aims to operate as many longhaul services as possible from London Heathrow and London Gatwick, but these are subject to delay.
Any customers, on both longhaul and shorthaul, who do not need to travel today to or from London Heathrow and London Gatwick are advised to stay at home.
Shorthaul and domestic services operated by the airline’s regional subsidiary BA Connect to and from UK regional airports (not Heathrow and
Gatwick) are continuing to operate albeit with delays.
Meanwhlie, bmi has confirmed that it continues to operate outbound domestic, European and long haul flights from London Heathrow Terminal One, albeit with significant delays.
Passengers have been advised to allow extra time to check-in.
“Customers are advised not to bring to the airport items which are valuable or fragile in nature,” it said in a statement.
“The airline is unable to accept liability for such items and therefore customers still wishing to carry items such as laptops or cameras are advised to check that they are covered for any loss or damage under their own personal travel insurance.”
