Thai Airways suspends nearly all flights
Flag carrier Thai Airways is the latest to ground nearly all flights for a temporary period.
Most flight operations will be suspended until May 31 and cuts are being phased in with immediate effect.
First to be halted are flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Seoul, Phnom Penh, Vientiane, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Yangon, Singapore, Jakarta, Denpasar, Kunming, Xiamen, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Karachi, Kathmandu, Lahore, Dhaka, Islamabad and Colombo.
Domestic services operated by Thai Smile have also been axed.
From March 27, Thai Air suspends flights to four Australia destinations – Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and then all Europe flights from April 1.
This includes London, Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels, Copenhagen, Oslo, Moscow and Stockholm.
Customers can exchange their tickets for cancelled flights for a credit voucher which is valid for one year.
