Thai tour operators call for more Chinese speaking tour guides

Wednesday, 6 April 20163 min read
Thai tour operators have called for help from the government to ensure there are enough Chinese speaking tour guides to cope with the growing number of travellers from China.
The Thailand-China Tourism Association (TCTA) president Ronnarong Cheewinsiriamnuai has petitioned the Thai government to allow the hiring if more Chinese guides.
The TCTA delivered a petition with the names of more than 100 tour operators seeking government assistance.
The TCTA expects up to 10 million Chinese visitors this year, more than double the number just three years ago.
Cheewinsiriamnuai acknowledged some tour operators have been forced to hire unlicensed guides to make up the shortfall.
