Thailand has lost nearly 1.5 million tourism jobs
Thailand has seen tourism jobs shrink by 1.45 million since the beginning of the pandemic, says the Tourism Council of Thailand. About 400,000 have been lost in the first quarter of this year.
The Council’s VP Vichit Prakobgoson expects to see just three million foreign tourist arrivals this year, just a fraction of the 40 million in 2019.
From July, vaccinated tourists will be allowed to visit Phuket quarantine-free ahead of several other tourist innoculated opening up to quarantined travellers from October.
