Thailand launching wearable health tech for tourists

Thailand has developed wearable tech to keep tabs on tourists visiting the country.

A digital wristband has been approved by officials to monitor the location and health of visitors and help with contract tracing.

Local media reports a ‘Smart Band’ would be a mandatory tracking device for foreign tourists.

It would be able to measure body temperature and would alert health authorities if a fever is detected.

It is thought it could also help travellers from getting lost according to Thailand’s Digital Ministry.

It has been developed for travellers on the Special Tourist Visa.scheme and will be applied to a small number of new tourist arrivlas initially.

It is due to luanch this week but few specific details have been confirmed yet.

It is unclear if the user will have to pay for it and if so, how much it will cost.
